Jasper Venture Group acquired the former Parkway Hospital property after the hospital had closed and the building had fallen into poor physical condition, making it unsuitable for continued use as a medical facility. The vacant structure had become a long-standing eyesore in the neighborhood and no longer served a viable institutional purpose.. The firm undertook a complex rezoning and redevelopment effort to transform the property into a productive residential use that would serve both housing and community needs.
Jasper Venture Group worked closely with local and city stakeholders throughout the entitlement process, including then–City Council Member Karen Koslowitz, then–Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, the New York City Planning Commission, and Queens Community Board 6. Through this collaborative public process, the site was successfully rezoned from a former hospital use to residential development.
The approved plan included a significant affordable senior housing component of more than 140 units, along with a dedicated community facility designed to benefit the surrounding neighborhood. The project reflects Jasper Venture Group’s approach to adaptive reuse, responsible development, and constructive engagement with local officials, public agencies, and community members.
